Social activities on Wednesday 27.8:

• NOTE: Remember to take cash with you, so you can pay for your activity.
  

• 10:00 Shooting begins. The correct place may be a bit complicated to find. Therefore the meeting point and time is in the Market place near the stage at 9:45, located here (google maps).
• 12:30 Lake cruise begins. If even more people are willing to participate in lake cruise, please come. Be on the harbor at latest at 12:15. The harbor address is Rantakatu 2, located here (google maps).
• 16:00 Palloilukeidas sport activities (but minigolf at 18:00).
  • Wall climbing:
    • Shoes cost 1.65 euros extra.
    • Climbing requires an instructor, and Jussi Kinnunen (student in IPCV) is such person.
    • Jussi will propably organize a meeting with you beforehand.
    • Walls reserved from 16:00.
  • Bowling:
    • 2 bowling tracks for six or seven persons reserved for one hour (16:00-17:00).
  • Pool:
    • 1 table for three persons reserved for one hour (16:00-17:00).
  • Come straight to Palloilukeidas, located here.
• 16:00 Nintendo Wii in Science Park organized by Tuija. Meeting point in Science Park lobby at 16:00.
• 18:00 Minigolf tournament in Palloilukeidas. If more people are willing to participate in minigolf, please come.

Few notes:

• Please, register yourself to the social activities by 19.8. noon in 106 class room (same room where the coffee break is). You can also do the registration in get-together party.
  
• Sport activities in ‘Palloilukeidas’:
  • We can not guarantee that all Sport activities are available on Wednesday 27.8., especially Tennis etc. Tomorrow, when the registration is finished, I will try to reserve everything. After that we will know, if things are possible or not.
  • The equipment for some activities may cost a couple of euros extra. (e.g. in bowling all equipment are included in the price, but for wall climbing probably not)
  • If you are planning to go to sports center Palloilukeidas by yourself, they still wish that you call beforehand and ask if it is possible to come (it’s now rush time and stuff for some activities may be already reserved). The phone number for Palloilukeidas is +358 13 126 558.
  • Show your name tag in Palloilukeidas to proof you’re a student. Normal prices are 1-2 euros higher.
  • Palloilukeidas sports center is located here (google map). Address: Linnunlahdentie 10.
• Swimming hall ‘Vesikko’:
  • Vesikko is exceptionally closed on Friday 22.8.
  • Show your name tag in Vesikko to proof you’re a student. Normal price is a bit higher.
  • Vesikko swimming hall is located here (google map). Address: Uimarintie 1.
• Wireless LAN:
  • In the Science Park (and in University buildings) a wireless network ‘joynet’ works with the given Windows user account.
  • I’ve been told that some persons have had problems of connecting to joynet. I will try to do something about it on Tuesday.
• Computer classrooms are normally open during daytime on Mon-Fri.
• More stuff will be posted here later, if needed.

Meeting point for Petkeljärvi/Mekrijärvi trip will be at University parking place (see map) at 10:00 on Saturday, August 23.

The stages of the journey:

1. Forest trip in Petkeljärvi National Park
2. Possibility to buy drinks for the evening at the centre of Ilomantsi
3. Mekrijärvi research station : sauna, games, dinner

Take your swimsuits with you! No towels needed this time.

There are slight changes in the schedule for Monday 18th of August: We will have two visiting lecturers from Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic, giving short lectures in Monday afternoon. Their topics will be added to Schedule page shortly.

At the moment, we have the following amount of students registered from different universities (updated August 8th, 2008):

In addition, there will be about 15 students from Joensuu participating the summer school. This means that we’ll have in total almost 60 participants from 8 universities.

IPCV organizers wish everyone a really good summer, we are welcoming you to Joensuu in August! More detailed information about practical arrangements will be passed to registered students by e-mail at latest in the beginning of August.
